The need to anneal Unicore
Unlike a traditional wound core, where the whole core is stressed during production, the Unicore actually folds the core and therefore only creates stress at the fold position. Therefore as the Mean Path Length (MPL) of the core increases the percentage of stressed area decreases until at some point the benefit of annealing becomes so negligible that it is unnecessary. This point is dependent on the specific design, material and low loss requirements of the customer. The attached diagrams demonstrate this theory in more detail.
